Advanced Yoga Instructor Studies Program

The Advanced Studies Program is intended as an educative and practical study for any student or teacher of yoga who would like to develop a deeper understanding of the philosophy and practice of yoga beyond the basic asana class. The yoga instructor program is designed to direct each individual toward developing his or her own practice, facilitating growth on all levels: physical, mental and spiritual. Teachings will be based on Patanjali's Yoga Sutra, and embodied through asana, pranayama, meditation, chanting, and personal inquiry. Yoga instructors and students of all traditions will find this program an engaging, challenging transformative process.

The Advanced Studies is a pre-requisite for The Essential Yoga Therapy 500 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program. It is also open to those who simply want to delve deeper into the study of yoga without continuing on into Teacher Training. Over the years, this yoga instructor training program has been beneficial for yoga teachers and yoga students who want to intensify their practice and develop a deeper understanding of yoga and themselves. Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Credits are available for teachers with RYT-200 who are working towards their 500 Hour Yoga Teacher Training certificate specifically in the areas of philosophy, esoteric anatomy and mantra practice. For more information contact Robin at: 425-222-6350 or e-mail her at: robin@essentialyogatherapy.com

The Advanced Studies was a safe environment for me to work deeply on the journey to finding my true self. The tools I have learned have improved my relationships with everyone in my life. The Advanced Studies Program is a must for anyone interested in learning the balance of caring for yourself first – then creating the opening to relate to others through your heart.

The Advanced Studies Program took me to my edge and often beyond...my self-confidence blossomed and with it my understanding of the art and science of yoga.    - Roy De Leon, Yoga Instructor

The Advanced Studies Program was beyond awesome. I’m happier; more engaged in life and I am beginning to feel truly present. Robin’s knowledge of the various yoga practices and teachings, and ability to clearly transmit that information in a personally meaningful way made all the difference. Looking back, I know how lucky I am to have discovered the Yoga Barn.

Essential Yoga Therapy 500 Hour Yoga Teacher Training

Yoga instructor certification photoThe Essential Yoga Therapy teacher training is an in-depth training in the Viniyoga tradition with core alignment principles from Iyengar yoga woven in as is appropriate. This yoga teacher training is registered with the Yoga Alliance at the 500 hour level. Robin Rothenberg, Certified Yoga Therapist and primary instructor for this yoga instructor certification training, is a graduate of the American Viniyoga Institute (Therapist Training, 2002), and a Certified Iyengar Teacher (1992). She has also been greatly influenced by Nischala Joy Devi and Richard Miller’s work with Yoga Nidra.

This 500 Hour Yoga Teacher Training is designed not only to prepare one to teach all levels of asana, but to delve deeply into the practices of pranayama, chanting, meditation, personal ritual and to cultivate a deep appreciation for the philosophical basis for yoga, Patanjali's, and Yoga Sutras.

All student-teachers are required to develop a personal practice incorporating the various tools of yoga. Robin will meet with you privately to help cultivate your personal practice and to support you in the yoga instructor certification training process. This is an intensive and intimate training, limited to 15, so that in traditional Viniyoga style, each student-teacher is encouraged to develop in the way most appropriate to him/her.

The Anatomy and Physiology portions will be taught by Dr. Jill Massengill, D.C., and Dr. Lynn Hughes, D.O., psychiatrist. In addition to their vast experience in the medical field, both of these women are seasoned teachers in the Viniyoga lineage.

Robin is by far the most masterful yoga teacher I have ever trained with. Her ability to transmit the teachings of Viniyoga into practical and applicable lessons is magical, inspirational and scientific. My practice and my teaching were in every way transformed by this experience and they continue to be. I am forever grateful to Robin and she is with me every day on the mat and in the classroom.    - Ellen B. – Yoga and Voice teacher for Cornish College of the Arts

I decided to commit myself to the teacher training program with Robin Rothenberg because I wanted to deepen my understanding of yoga, and because I wanted to challenge myself to become a more confident person by putting myself in front of others as a teacher. During the training Robin brought forth a broad spectrum of information in a variety of formats that made the material absorbable and pertinent on both personal and professional levels. She did it gracefully, challenging us no more and no less than she challenged herself; and always offering herself as an example of a personable, dedicated, and resourceful teacher. The breadth and depth of her knowledge, although at times awe-inspiring, is matched by the concern she has for the welfare of her students. To experience the changes Robin's training brought to a class of wonderful fellow students demonstrated how the wisdom of yoga can have deep application in many various and unexpected ways. I came away from the training with not just a confidence to carry on the viniyoga tradition, but with a new self-confidence to carry with me for the rest of my life. I highly recommend taking the opportunity to study with Robin.    - Harvey L.
